UNWTO is considered to be one of the most important organizations for OACM, one with whom we want to establish close future collaboration, due to our mutual focus and orientation towards the global tourism industry sector. One of the main missions of OACM is oriented towards the global tourism industry and sustainable ocean tourism development - OACM SOTD. SOTD program is based on assisting the countries with developing tourism industry in the implementation of the OACM SOS conservancy program based on creating and expanding Certified Safe Marine Areas (CSMAs) that provide safe zones for people, tourists and fragile aquatic and marine life. OACM SOS conservancy program is oriented towards protection and cleaning of the beaches, ports and harbors, as well as frequently visited tourist places that have not been the focus of protection, preservation, or cleaning of plastic and marine debris which has accumulated at these marine areas for decades. OACM is creating and expanding White Flags CSMAs in its member countries to provide high standards and quality to the global tourism industry, together with safety and comfort for the users, and safety for endangered aquatic and marine life. Safe beaches and marine areas represent the most fundamental basic requirement in the tourism industry and sustainable ocean tourism development. White Flag CSMAs - plastic-free beaches and sea beds - are essential and necessary in the tourism industry since tourists are becoming more aware than ever of environmental protection. OACM will deliver concrete measures and solutions during this summit, and OACM SOS conservancy program will be implemented in all segments of the tourism industry: hotels, tour operators and airline companies, etc.
