CSMA Beaches & Marine Areas

CSMA Beaches & Marine Areas

This summit is all about concrete measures and solutions. The POS summit will highlight the official presentation of the world's most concrete measure undertaken by countries and governments in global protection and preservation of the oceans, lakes and rivers. The global expansion of White Flag Certified Safe Marine Areas (CSMAs) – plastic-free beaches, ports and harbors, wildlife marine areas beneath and above the surface – presents an OACM priority. This concrete measure is based on physical extraction of the plastic and other marine debris from the ocean, lake and river areas. After the initial systematic cleanup, these physically cleaned areas are maintained and monitored throughout the entire year by WhiteFlag International divers and its Ocean Guardian(s). These designated marine areas have integrated Ocean Communication, Education and Promotion System (OCEPS) at the place of the certified marine area aimed towards stopping the future pollution and raising awareness among visitors of the marine area. OACM conservancy program is easily implementable in the government infrastructure as it covers the entire environmental aspect of the natural resources. This is a basic government program that needs to be fully implemented before the country can become an OACM member and present itself globally as a top environmental ocean destination.
