OACM conservancy program is oriented towards concrete preservation and protective measures for oceans, lakes and rivers based on these three physical aspects:
- physical cleaning and extraction of the marine debris, plastic and other toxic material
- minimizing and stopping the pollution from entering the ocean, lakes and rivers with OCEPS (Ocean Communication Education and Promotion System)
- raising awareness through the educational system
This easy implementable conservancy program in governmental and corporate sector allows the countries to create White Flag Certified Safe Marine Areas (CSMAs) - plastic-free zones and sea beds. These areas can be created in White Flag's two main categories - Micro and Macro location.
Micro location usually represents certified beaches, ports and harbors, or marinas, which are usually populated by local people or tourists. White Flag certified micro locations have established monitoring, surveillance and inspection program as they are maintained by White flag divers or inspectors. These areas provide safe marine zones for people and children while simultaneously protecting the fragile and aquatic life beneath the surface.
Macro location is the White Flag highly developed ocean, lake and river conservancy system for countries, large marine areas and wildlife protected reservoirs' marine areas, national parks and long-distance coastlines. This conservancy program includes a close collaboration with the government and its institutions which are required to create and expand large-scale marine areas. The summit will choose one of the OACM countries that have integrated this conservancy program and present it as an example during the Plastic Ocean Summit through a short environmental documentary.
We are delighted to have Your contribution and presence at the first edition of the Plastic Ocean Summit where Your organization can present sustainable projects that can make a contribution or can be implemented by OACM globally to protect, preserve and clean our oceans, lakes and rivers.
